True Friends

    There are many people
That we meet in our lives.
But only a very few
Will make a lasting impression
On our minds and hearts.

It is these people
That we will think of often,
And who will always remain
Important to us...

True Friends!

Touching Shoulders

There's a comforting thought at the
close of the day,
When I'm weary and lonely and sad
That sort of grips hold of this crusty old heart
And bids it be merry and glad.
It gets in my soul, and drives out the blues
And finally thrills through and through.
It is just a sweet memory that chants the refrain
I'm glad I touched shoulders with you.
Or did you know you were brave,
did you know you were strong?
Did you know there was one leaning hard?
Did you know that I waited and listened
and prayed?
And was cheered by your simplest word?
Did you know that I longed for that
smile on your face?
For the sound of your voice ringing true?
Did you know I grew stronger, and better
because,
I had merely rubbed shoulders with you?

The Silent Ranks

I wear no uniform, no blues, or army greens.
But I am in the military in the ranks rarely seen.
I have no rank upon my shoulders. Salutes I do not give.
But the military world is where I live.

I'm not in the chain of command, orders I do not get.
But my husband is the one who does, this I cannot forget.
I'm not the one who fires the weapon, who puts my life on the line.
But my job is just as tough. I'm the one that's left behind.

My husband is a patriot, a brave and prideful man.
and the call to serve his country, not all can understand.
Behind the lines I see the things needed to keep the country free.
My husband makes the sacrifice. but so do the kids and me.

I love the man I married. Soldiering is his life.
But I stand among the silent ranks known as the Military
Wife.

The Soul Of A Child

The Soul Of a child is the loveliest flower
That grows in the garden of God.
It's climb is from weakness to knowledge and power,
To the sky from the clay and the clod.
To beauty and sweetness it grows under care,
Neglected,' tis ragged and wild;
'Tis a plant that is tender, but wondrously rare--
The sweet wistful soul of a child!
Be tender, a gardener, and give it it's share
Of moisture, of warmth, and of light,
And let it not lack for painstaking care
To protect it from frost and blight.
A glad day will come when it's bloom shall unfold,
In the sensitive soul of a child.

To Daddy With Love

Some things will always be in style
Good solid things like honesty, and trust
    and caring about people.

It's qualities like these that keep us aware
    of who we are
And what we can give to life.

    taught me to value,
through your influence, your example, and
    your love.

It has made me love you very much,
And has made me very proud to have you
 for my Daddy.

Ten Commandments

Thou shalt have no other gods before me

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images

Thou shalt not take the Name-of the Lord Thy God in vain

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy

Honor thy father and thy mother
That thy days may be long upon the land
Which the Lord Thy God giveth thee

Thou shalt not kill

    Thou shalt not commit adultry

  Thou shalt not steal

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor

Thou shalt not covet

Thoughts Of You Mother

My earliest memories of you, Mother, are made up of very special things...
feelings of warmth, safety, and contentment
and I know it's because you were always there taking good care of me.

I remember how you encouraged me
because you always knew what I was doing
even when I didn't.

I remember times you comforted me over a disappointment or sadness
and how happy you would be for me when things were going well.
I remember how you listened patiently to my ever-forming thoughts and ideas.

But most of all, I remember you
...wise, helpful and caring...
always believing in me and loving me.

I'll always be glad for these memories, Mother, and I love you for each and every one.
Your friendship and faith in me have helped me find my way in life.

I know that if I've turned out even a little bit like you hoped I would,
then all you've done for me and all the love that guided you
will have been worthwhile.

Truth Never Dies

Truth Never Dies. The ages come and go;
The mountains wear away; the seas retire;
Destruction lays earth's mighty cities low;
And empires, states, and dynasties expire;
But caught and handed onward by the wise,
Truth never dies.

Though unreceived and scoffed at
through the years;
Though made the butt of ridicule and jest;
Though held aloft for mockery and jeers;
Denied by those of transient power possessed;
Insulated by the insolence of lies,
Truth never dies.

Try To Know Others

If I knew you and you knew me
If both of us could clearly see
With an inner sight divine
To meaning of your heart and mine

I'm not sure that we would suffer less
And clasp our hands in friendliness
Our thoughts would pleasing agree
If I knew you and you knew me

If I knew you and you knew me
As each ones known to be
We could look each other in the face
And see therein a truer grace

Life has so many hidden woes
So many thorns for every rose
The why of things our hearts would see
If I knew you and you knew me

Upstream

The easy roads are crowded, and
The level roads are jammed.
The pleasant little rivers
With the drifting folks are crammed.
But off yonder where it's rocky,
Where you get the better view,
You will find the ranks are thinning,
And the travelers are few.

Where the going's smooth and pleasant
You will always find the throng,
For the many--more's the pity--
Seem to like to drift along.
But the steps that call for courage
And the task that's hard to do
In the end results in glory
For the never waving few!

Welcome To The Family Stepfather

I'm really glad now that we're part of  the same family
You probably know I wasn't sure at first.
I guess I was just afraid...

Afraid that there wasn't enough room
for both of us in the same family...
Afraid that I would be forgotten or
loved a little less than before you came along.

But somehow we've managed to weather all that
and grow closer too.
Now I realize how much you've added to the family...
How much you've added to my life.
I just want to thank you for being such a loving,
kind and patient stepfather....

Such a very thoughtful, very special person.

What is a Grandmother

A grandmother is a remarkable woman.
She's a wonderful combination of
warmth and kindness, laughter and love.
She overlooks our faults, encourages our dreams,
and praises our every success.

A grandmother has the wisdom of a teacher,
the sincerity of a true friend, and the
tenderness of a mother.
She's someone we admire, respect and
love very much.

A grandmother will always have a cherished
place in our memories and in our hearts.
She's someone for whom we want every happiness
in return for the joy she always brings.

A grandmother is all the dear and precious
things in life...
When she's a grandmother like you.

We Are Thankful For These

These to be thankful for:
A friend, a work to do, a way to wend,
And these in which to take delight;
The wind that that turns the polars white,
Wonder and gleam of common things,
Sunlight upon the sea-gull's wings,
Orders of earth and dew-drenched lawns,
The pageantry of darks and dawns;
Blue vistas of a city street,
A twilight, music, passing feet,
The thrill of spring, half joy, half pain,
The deep voice of the autumn rain.
Shall we be content with these
Imperishable mysteries?
And jocund-hearted take our share
Of joy and pain and find life fair?--
Wayfarers o the road where we
Set forth each day right valiantly,
Expectant, dauntless, blithe, content,
To make the great experiment.

Twins Song

God gave me a child you see,
A child to call me mother,

But before I knew my child was born,
God gave me another.

I was proud to know that , I
was soon to be a mother,
but before I heard my baby cry,
God gave me another.

Now I have two to sing to, two to cling to,
two to have each other.
And two to give for two to live for ,
And twins to call me mother.

I have watched with pride you see,
the twins grow with each other,
and I am proud to be, so proud you see,
proud to be their mother.

Now I have two to sing to, two to cling to,
two to have each other.
And two to give for, two to live for ,
And twins to call me Mother

Twins Forever

I love my twin the most of anyone.
Born minutes apart, our bond is so special.
Our whispered secrets, our special language,
our tears and laughter unite us all our lives.
We mirror and affirm each other,
walking hand in hand, hearts in tune,
my twin is "my other half."

Wait Upon The Lord

They that wait upon the Lord
Shall renew their strength
They shall mount up with wings
As eagles
They shall run
And not be weary
And they shall walk
And not faint

What Makes Christmas?

"What Makes Christmas?"
I ask my soul,
And this answer
Came back to me:
"It is the
Glory of Heaven come down
In the hearts of humanity---
Come in the spirit and heart of a
Child,
And it matters not what we share
At Christmas; it is not Christmas
at all
Unless the Christ Child be there."

Why God Created Little Girls

God made our world from a great shining star
And filled it with marvelous things,
Like shadows and rainbows and dimples and bees
And dreams that come true of wishes.

But He needed something special and dear
To make all He'd created worthwhile,
To sing songs, pick flowers, be dainty, be sweet,
To dance and sing and giggle and wink,
So God made the world Little Girls.

Whom forever He will cherish and love
For of all His creatures in Heaven and Earth,
He sees in a Little Girl's eyes,
The wonder and glory of Paradise.

True Friend

I'm not sure when it happened
But I'm very glad it did...

You came into my life when
I really needed a friend.
The more I get to know you
The more I know myself.

You and I are different...
And in many ways the same.

Your good ear, compassionate heart,
will always find you fame...

I promise to always be here,
Forever and to the end.

You are the true definition of a True Friend.

To Dad On Father's Day

I sure hope this Father's Day
is your very best by far.

Extra nice and extra fun
The way you always are.

Times are fun when you're around,
No nicer dad could ever be found!

You're the greatest kind of dad
Any kid has ever had....

Today

We shall do much in the years to come,
but what have we done today?
We shall give our gold in a princely sum,
but what did we give today?
We shall lift the heart and dry the tear,
We shall plant a hope in the place of fear,
We shall speak the words of love and cheer
but what did we speak today?

We shall be so kind in the after while,
but what have we been today?
We shall bring each lonely life a smile,
but what have we brought today?
We shall give to truth a grander birth,
And to steadfast faith a deeper worth,
We shall feed the hungering souls of earth,
but whom have we fed today?

What Is A Fireman?

He is the guy next door - a man's man with the memory of a little boy.
He has never gotten over the excitement of engines and sirens and danger.
He is a guy like you and me with wants and worries and unfulfilled dreams.
Yet he stands taller than most of us.
He is a fireman.
He puts it all on the line when the bell rings.
A fireman is at once the most fortunate and the least fortunate of men.
He is a man who saves lives because he has seen too much death.
He is a gentle man because he has seen the awesome power of violence out of control.
He is responsive to a child's laughter because his arms have held too many small bodies that will never laugh again.
He is a man who appreciates the simple pleasures of life - hot coffee held in numb, unbending fingers - a warm bed for bone and muscle compelled beyond feeling - the camaraderie of brave men - the divine peace and selfless service of a job well done in the name of all men.
He doesn't wear buttons or wave flags or shout obscenities.
When he marches, it is to honor a fallen comrade.
He doesn't preach the brotherhood of man.
He lives it.

To Grandfather With Love

Some things will always be in style
Good solid things like honesty, and trust
    and caring about people.

    of who we are

    taught me to value,
through your influence, your example, and
    your love.

To My Dad

    Dad, your very special
you mean so much to me
There aren't many Dads like you
who give so selflessly

When life has turned my world
completely inside out
You're always there to lean on
I know without a doubt

Whenever things go wrong
and I don't understand
I know that you will be there
to lend a helping hand

The years have brought a touch of gray...
...some lines upon your face
But to me there's not another Dad
who could ever take your place

Thoughts Of You Dad

Often I find myself thinking of you Dad

Of the support and encouragement
You've given me over the years

Of your generosity, kindness and guidance
And especially of the many talks
That we have had together

And it's when I think of these things
That I realize how much it has helped me
To know that you've had many of the same dreams
And doubts that I've had in life

Though I know I don't say it often enough dad
I admire you and love you very much.

The Sculptor

A block of marble stood,
Before the sculptor where he would.
He smote with hand well skilled,
And thus with blow on blow fulfilled,
The vision of his mind.
At first with chisel coarse and stroke,
And soon the form appeared,
And then finer yet, until he brought,
The perfect image forth
The unerring skillfulness,
With cunning hand and sure,
'Tis as the marble groweth less
The likeness groweth more.
So God divinely works with those
He, in the eternal ages chose,
To show His work of grace,
And thus with blow on blow to trace,
The image of his Son!
How blest to know that he who holds,
His tools, before his eyes behold,
His own beloved One!
The cares and sorrow day by day,
The troubles that o'ershade the way,
Together work for good;
And nothing e'er by chance befalls
The one whom God in purpose calls,
In whom his love is found,
And when we have the glory gained,
And Christ's full image have attained,
We'll praise his sovereign grace,
And bless the hand that dealt each blow,
Upon the marble here below
In working out his will!

The Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things
I cannot change, courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.

Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.

Trusting that He will make all things right if I
surrender to his will;

That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with him forever in the next.
Amen

To A Special Teacher

When I started in school,
this day seemed so far away.

Now it's here and I can't believe
That time has passed so quickly...

But through your encouragement
and guidance,
I feel I'm ready for tomorrow's challenges.

Teachers play such an important part
in shaping and guiding...
Especially teachers like you,
Thank you for caring so much.

True Friends Will Always Remain
In Each Other's Hearts

A friend is someone who listens to you without judging
Right or wrong, good or bad.
When you're feeling low about yourself
They gently help you to see the right perspective again,
A friend reminds you of all the positive qualities
You forgot you had.

When you share with a friend
Decisions are easier to make and problems seem less serious.
A friend gives you the precious gift of time
To talk about new ideas and desires
Of reaching goals and accomplishing dreams.
A friend loves you for who you are not what you do.
Feeling so accepted makes you want to try harder
And set higher goals
And accomplish more.

Through close friendship you learn the fine art of giving.
You begin to care more deeply and enjoy sharing.
Seeing happiness you bring to another person
Wherever you go in life a friend will always be with you.

Unanswered

I thank Thee, Lord, for mine unanswered prayers
Unanswered, save thy quiet kindly, "Nay,"
Yet it seemed hard among my heavy cares that bitter day.
I wanted joy: but thou did'st know for me that sorrow
was the lift I needed most,
And in it's mystic depths I learned to see the Holy Ghost.
I wanted health; but thou did'st bid me sound
the secret treasures of pain,
And in my moans and groans of my heart 'oft found
thy Christ again.
I wanted wealth; 'twas not the better part:
There is wealth and poverty 'oft given,
And Thou did'st teach me of the gold of heart,
best gift of Heaven.
I thank thee, Lord, for these unanswered prayers,
And for thy word, the quiet, kindly, "Nay.'
'Twas thy withholding lightened all my cares,
That blessed day.

Unfailing Grace

I find comfort for each care.
Wrapped in a promise wondrous fair.
No matter what the grief or pain.
There will be sunshine after the rain.

A softest rainbow spans the sky.
A symbol He keeps watch on high.
If we abide in him each day.
We can never lose our way.

Immortal love through time to be,
Is what he planned for you and me.
Accept his help turn not away.
There is new hope in God each day.

Walking With Grandma

I like to walk with Grandma,
Her steps are short like mine.
She doesn't say, " Now Hurry Up!"
        She always takes her time.

I like to walk with Grandma,
Her eyes see things like mine do....
Wee pebbles bright, a funny cloud,
        Half hidden drops of dew.

        Most people have to hurry,
They do not stop and see.
I'm glad that God made Grandma
        Unrushed and young like me.

Walking With Grandpa

I like to walk with Grandpa,,
Her steps are short like mine.
He doesn't say, " Now Hurry Up!"
 He always takes her time.

I like to walk with Grandpa,

Wee pebbles bright, a funny cloud,

        Most people have to hurry,

What Would He say?

If he should come today,
And find my hands so full
Of future plans, however fair,
In which my Savior has no share,
What would he say?
If he should come today,
And find my love so cold,
My faith so very weak and dim,
I had not even looked at him,
What would he say?
If He should come today,
And find I had not told
One soul about my heavenly friend
Whose blessings all my way attend,
What would he say?
If he should come today,
Would he be glad--quite glad?
Remembering he died for all,
And none, through me, had heard his call
What would he say?

Twins #1

Listen, my friends and you will surely know
how parents survive with twins on the grow.

Day of leisure is now just a pleasant memory
when our double joy was born to us, you see!

One needs changing and the other to be fed;
the laundry to be done while they're in bed.

And a trip of any kind is a tale of it's own,
just getting them ready so we can be gone.

Or do you remember when romance was once there?
Well, if I'm not too tired, tonight I might dare.

The grim I've told you, but please hear the other,
for such a wonder it is being a twin's Mother.

For along with the double trouble, it does so appear
comes plenty of double loving from those so dear.

And if people ask you, "how do you ever cope?"
Answer, "God sent a blessing and lots of hope!"

Why I Love You

I love you
not because of what you have done
but because of who you are inside
Not because of all you have accomplished
but because of the character of who you are
Not because you give so much to me
but because of the heart behind it
I love you
because you are kind, sensitive, loving
because you know my faults, yet love me anyway
because you forgive much
because you see the best in me, even when I cannot see it in myself
I love you
not because of what I have gained
I love you
not because of what I have gained
but because of your heart that gives
I love you
because you are a gift
a precious loan from God
a joy
a privilege
And I will love you forever........

Twin's Angels

When twins arrive from the Heaven's shore,
The lord sends angels, too.
For moms and dads must sometimes sleep,
but Angels never do.

They quickly wing their way to earth,
surrounding them with love.
for twins are special little gifts
sent from the Lord above.

If we could see with Angel's eyes,
we'd see not one but two.
Yes, they are here to do their best
to help twins' dreams come true.

One plus one is two
and that's the both of you.
Twice as much to love
two blessings from above.
Two precious lives to mold
two little hands to safely hold.

God touched our hearts so deep inside,
our special blessing multiplied!!

Twins #2

There's two to wash
There's two to dry,
There's two who argue
There's two who cry.

One's in the mud
Having a ball
The other holds a crayon
Another marked wall.

Some days seem endless
My patience grows thin.
Why was I chosen
To be a Mother of Twins?

The answer comes clear
At the end of each day,
As I tuck them in bed
And to myself I say.

There's two to kiss
There's two to hug.
And best of all
There's two to love.

Under Every Burden

Under every burden, God will slip his hand---
Every gulf of sorrow, his great love has spanned.
Ease the pain and anguish, and bring blessed calm....

Why God Created Little Boys

God made a world out of His dreams
of majestic mountains, oceans and streams,
prairies and plains and wooded land,
then paused and thought...

"I need someone to stand
on top of the mountains, to conquer the seas,
explore the plains and climb the trees.
Someone to start out small
and grow sturdy and strong like a tree,"
and so...

He created boys, full of spirit and fun,
to explore and conquer, to romp and run,
with dirty faces and banged up chins,
with courteous hearts and boyish grins.

When He had completed the task He'd begun,
He surely said, "That's a job well done."

Twenty Tiny Fingers

Twenty tiny fingers,
Twenty tiny toes,
Two little angel faces,
Each with a turned up nose.

One looks like his Mum,
With a curl on top,
The other one's going bald,
Just like his Pop, Pop, Pop !!
