Poems Verses And Prayers Page 4

Learn Wait

Learn to wait---life's hardest lesson
Conned, perchance, through blinding tears;
While the heart throbs sadly echo
To the tread of passing years.
Learn to wait---hope's slow fruition;
Faint not, though the way seems long;
There is joy in each condition;
Hearts through suffering may grow strong.
Thus untouched by sorrow
Aims not at a higher state;
Joy seeks not a a brighter morrow;
Only sad hearts learn to wait.

Letters

Letters are the silken thread
That runs from heart to heart,
Weaving a web of things unsaid
When we must be apart.

Life's Clock

The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just where the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed:
To lose one's health is more:
To lose one's soul is such a loss
As no man can restore.

The present only is our own,
Live, Love, toil with a will--
Place no faith in 'tomorrow'--
For the clock may then be still.

Life's Trials

I know that there has been so much
that you have been through.

Life sometimes hands us challenges to
test our ability and courage.

Your illness has been a very trying experience,
I know, but you have shown so much faith and
strength in everything you've been through.

I'm so glad that you are almost over this
trial, and that you will soon be able to get back
to the things that you enjoy and the people  you love.

I am so proud of you, and glad that you are going
to be well soon.

Let Him Know It

When a fellow pleases you,
Let him know it;
It's a simple thing to do---
Let him know it.
Can't you give the scheme a trial?
It is sure to bring a smile,
And that makes it all worth the while--
Let him know it!

You are pleased when anyone
Lets you know it.
When the man who thinks, "Well done!"
Lets you know it.
For it gives you added zest
To bring out your very best---
Just because some mortal blest,
Lets you know it.

 Life

Life becomes tragic to him
how has plenty to live on,
But little to live for....

Light

Light it changes the day,
it breaks into this moment,
it gives and takes away
with such quiet power.
It is the soul of everything,
and the source of all faith.
How fragile a thing,
that lifts us into hope.

Little Pill

Little pill here in my hand
I wonder how you understand
Just what to do or where to go,
To stop he ache that hurts me so!
Within your covering lies relief
You work alone in unbelief--
You sink in regions there below,
As down my throat you quickly go!
But what I wonder, little pill,
How do you know where I am ill?
And just how do you really know,
Just where you are supposed to go?
I've got a headache that is true,
My broken ribs need attention too.

So how can anything so small,
End my ache in no time at all
Do you work alone or hire a crew
To do the good things that you do?
I'm counting on you mighty strong
To get in there where you belong.
Don't let me down and please don't shirk
But do your undercover work!
So down my throat be on your way,
And end the ache another day.
Don't make a wrong turn, is my plea,
'Cause I can't take another "till after three!

Living

You can't "live" wrong,
And "die" right.....

Lonely People

People are lonely because,
They build walls
Instead of bridges.....

Lord Forgive Us!

Oh Lord, forgive us for being so sensitive
about the things that do not matter--
and so insensitive to the things that do!

Lord You Are My Hope

Lord, You are my hope,
and that hope is the source
of my happiness......

Little Leaguer's Prayer

Lord. give me strength to hit the ball,
And if I do,  don't let me fall.
Help me to pick the one that's right,

Then let me run with deer-like grace,
Don't let me miss, but tag first base.
Then on the second, stay with me, Lord
Cause this one out we can't afford.

Then let me zoom like a flying bird,
Right down the line and on the third.
Then let me slide with feet outhrust,
Across home plate in the swishing dust.

But first of all, Dear Lord, I pray,
Just teach the coach to let me play!

Love

There is beauty in the forest
When the trees are green and fair,
There is beauty in the meadow
When wild flowers scent the air.
There is beauty in the sunlight
And the soft blue beams above.
Oh, the world is full of beauty
When the heart is full of love.

Love And Years

I just want to let you know that you will always be
A very special person who means the world to me

From the first, so long ago, until this very day
You've only grown more lovely with your  tender touch of gray

You take the tome to listen to what I have to say
Which means so very much in this world of dismay

And even though some lines have come across your face
To me they've added character in each and every place

I see you standing firm in a world that's changing fast
To me you are the link between my future and my past

The years will come and go and I know that things will change
But the memories I have of you, in my heart they will remain.

Love That Gives

    Love that asketh, love again,
Finds the barter naught but pain;
Love that giveth in full store
Aye receives as much and more.
Love exacting nothing back
Never knoweth any lack;
Love, compelling love to pay,
Sees him bankrupt every day.

Lord Please Bless My Computer

Every night I lie in bed
This little prayer inside my head
God bless my mom and dad
and bless my children
and take care of my spouse
who brings me so much joy...
God, there's just one more thing
I wish that you would do
if you don't mind my asking
to bless my 'puter, too??
Now I know that it's not normal
to bless a small machine
but listen just a second
and I'll try to explain...
You see, that little metal box
holds more than odds and ends
Inside those small components
rest a hundred loving friends.
Some it's true I've never seen
and most I've never met...
never shaken hands or
ever truly hugged, and yet...
I know for sure they love me
by the kindnesses they give,
and this little scrap of metal
is how I get to where they live.
By faith is how I know them,
Much the same as I know You.
I share in life it brings them,
So if it's OK with you...
Just take an extra minute
from your duties up above...
to bless this little hunk of steel
that's filled with so much love.
So God, Please Bless My Puter...

Love Sings A Song

Love songs sung softly
by sweet voices of gold
Thoughts of a poet
through his poem gently told

Both speak of love
that through the years has grown
Both tell of two hearts
reaping joy that they have sown

Hope paints a picture
that grows sweeter with the years
Love sings a song
that comforts all your fears

Through commitment and trust
and tender sweet care
The vintage of our love
is God's gift we now share

Love's Strength

Measure thy life by loss instead of gain.
Not by the wine drunk, but by the wine poured forth;
For love's strength stand'eth in love's sacrifice,
And whoso suffers most hath most to give.
For labor, the common lot of man,
Is part of the kind Creator's plan;
And he is king whose brow is wet
With the pearl-gemmed crown of honest sweat.
Some glorious day, this understood,
All toilers will be a brotherhood,
With brain or hand the purpose is one,
And the master-workman, God's own Son.

 Love Can Never Die

One Must go and one be left
The lonely road to tread
There comes a day when all must face
The path that lies ahead

Knowing that the best is over
With a loved one gone
There seems no point in going on

But time is kind, the passing years
Their balm of healing bring
And like a bird at winter's end
The heart begins to sing

We come at last to realize
Death breaks the earthly tie
But love survives when grief has passed
For LOVE CAN NEVER DIE.

Love Is The Key

Sometimes you think I don't understand you, but I do remember
how hard it is to be a teenager.
I know it's not easy working through the feelings you are experiencing,
and I hope you will always feel free to talk with me.
Your teen years should be filled with wonderful experiences,
and I want your life to be happy and enjoyable.

Sometimes you may feel I'm too nosy in your private life,
or it may seem that I tell you what to do too much.
I don't mean to make you feel like you have no independence,
and I know you need some space and room to grow at times.
But as your mother, I want you to be healthy and happy
and to have every opportunity in life that you deserve.
I want us to be able to work out our differences
and communicate openly with each other.

Just as any relationship has ups and downs, so will ours.
We have always had a good relationship, and we can grow
and learn together in times ahead if we both work hard
at listening and respecting each other.
You are so important to me.

I hope you know that I love you with all my heart,
and love being your mother.

Love Is

Love is patient, Love is kind
Love is not jealous, is not proud.

Is not puffed up,
It does not behave badly.
Love does not easily get angry,
It does not think evil.

Love does not rejoice in iniquity,
But rejoices in the truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things,
Hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails.

My Brother

My brother's very special.
He's loved a whole lot too...

Because my brother's  wonderful
Because my brother's  you.

Make It Up

Life is too short for grievances--
For quarrels and for tears,
What's the use of wasting
Precious days and precious tears.
If there's something to forgive--
Forgive without delay--
Maby you too, were part to blame,
So make it up today.

Be generous--forget the past
And take a broader view,
Cast away all bitterness and
Let the sunshine through.
If it's within your power
A broken heart to mend,
Remember--love is all that
really matters-- in the end.

Measure Of Success

When sunshine falls upon your day
And fades from out the west
When business cares are put away
And you lay down to rest

The measure of the day's success
Or failure may be told
In terms of human happiness
And not in terms of gold

Is there beside some hearth tonight
More joy because you wrought?
Does someone face a bitter fight
With courage you have taught?

Is something added to the store
Of human happiness?
If so the day that now is o'er
Has been a real success

Many A Foe

Many a foe is a friend in disguise,
Many a trouble is a blessing most true,
Helping the heart to be happy and wise,
With love ever precious and joys ever new!

Master Of Men

"There is a young lad, Master,
With two small fish," they said.
"Five barley loaves he carries, too,
But little use they'd be to you
With thousands wanting bread."
And then the Master saw him,
A slender, growing lad,
Who with impetuous, boyish grace
Turned to his own a wistful face
And offered all he had.
At dusk the lad walked homeward.
What though the stars were dim?
A light within his soul he bore---
He'd not be lonely anymore--
The Master needed him

Matthew 7:7-8

Ask
And it shall be given to you
Seek
And ye shall find
Knock
And it shall be opened unto you

For every one that asketh receiveth
And he that seeketh findeth
And to him that knocketh
it shall be opened.

May You Have

May you have..
Enough happiness to keep you sweet,
Enough trials to keep you strong---
Enough sorrow to keep you human,
Enough hope to keep happy---
Enough failure to keep you humble,
Enough success to keep you eager---
Enough friends to give you comfort,
Enough wealth to meet your needs---
Enough enthusiasm to look forward,
Enough faith to banish depression,
Enough determination to make each
Day a better day than yesterday!

Miracles

You are a witness to many miracles
This fact you may not know
If you'll open your eyes to see God's wonders
These miracles will be shown.

The miracle of friendship,
The miracle of true love
The miracle of a sunset, in the sky so high above.
The miracle of our laughter
The miracle of our tears
The miracle of our growing, and maturing over the years
The miracle of each loved one, the miracle of joy
That comes with the miracle
of a newborn girl or boy

Oh. let us focus our clouded eyes
on the miracles all around
For whenever we can see clearly,
God's miracles can be found

Mountains

There are too many people
praying for mountains of
difficulty to be removed,
when what they really need
is courage to climb them!

Merry Christmas

May Your Holidays
be happy days,
filled with love
and laughter.

And may each day
bring joy your way
in the year that follows after!

Mothers

God could not be everywhere
and therefore
He made mothers......

Memory

When time, which steals our years away,
Shall steal our pleasures too;
The memory of the past will stay,
And half our joys renew...

Mother's Wrinkled Hands

Such beautiful, beautiful hands!
Though heart were weary and sad,
Those patient hands kept toiling on
That her children might be glad.
I almost weep when looking back,
To a childhood's distant day!
I think how these hands rested not,
When mine were at their play.

Mother

For as long as I can remember...
You were always by my side,
To give me support, confidence and help.

For as long as I can remember...
You were always the person I looked up to,
So strong, so sensitive, so pretty.

For as long as I can remember...
You always provided stability within our family
Full of laughter, full of tears, full of love.

For as long as I can remember...
And still today,
You are everything a mother should be.

Whatever I have become is because of you...
...and I thank you forever for our relationship.

Morning Prayer

When little things irk me, and I grow,
Impatient with my dear ones, make me know,
How in a moment joy can take it's flight
And happiness be quenched in endless night.
Keep this thought with me all the livelong day,
That I may guard the harsh words I might say,
When I would fret and grumble, fiery hot,
At trifles that tomorrow are forgot---
Let me remember, Lord, how it would be,
If these, my loved ones, were not hear with me.

My Angel

Angels come from up above,
to show you God's eternal love.
They keep you safe from harm,
they surround you with their loving arms.

Just listen with an open ear,
and they will calm your every fear.
Have you ever thought you heard,
an angel's soft and gentle word?

Angels come from up above,
to show God's eternal love.

My Church (#1)

My church has but one temple,
Wide as the world is wide,
Set with a million stars,

My church has no creed to bar
A single brother man
But says, "Come thou and worship"
To everyone who can.

My church has no roof or walls,
Nor floors save the beautiful sod--
For fear, I would seem to limit
The love of the illimitable God.

My Grandpa

My Grandpa's very special.
He's loved a whole lot too...

Because my Grandpa's  wonderful
Because my Grandpa's you.

My Church (#2)

On me, nor Priest, nor Presbyter, nor Pope,
Bishop, nor Dean, may stamp a party name.
But Jesus, with his largely human scope,
The service of my human life may claim.
Let prideful Priests do battle about creeds.
The church is mine that does most
Christ-like deeds.

Music

How many of us ever stop and think
Of music as  wonderous magic link
With God; taking sometimes the place of prayer,
When words have failed us 'neath the weight of care?
Music that knows no country, race or creed;
But God gives to each according to his need.

My Child Did Exist

I've lost a child, I hear myself say,
And the person I'm talking to just turns away.
Now why did I tell them, I don't understand.
It wasn't for sympathy or to get a helping hand.
I just want them to know I've lost something dear.
I want them to know that my child was here

My child left something behind which no one can see.
My made just one person a family.
So if I've upset you, I'm sorry as can be.
You'll have to forgive me, I could not resist.
I just want you to know that my child did exist.

My Dad

My Dad is very special.
He's loved a whole lot too...

Because my Dad is wonderful
Because my Dad is  you.

My Cousin

My cousin's very special.
He's loved a whole lot too...

Because my cousin's  wonderful
Because my cousin's  you.

My Dear Mother

To one Who bears
the sweetest name,
    and adds luster
       to the same,
      long life to her,
for there's no other,
who takes the place
 of my dear mother.

Daily Creed

Let me be a little kinder,
Let me be a little blinder
To the faults of those about me;
Let me praise a little more;
Let me be, when I am weary,
Just a little bit more cheery;
Let me serve a little better
Those that I am striving for.
Let me be a little braver
When temptation bids me waver;
Let me strive a little harder
To be all that I should be;
Let me be a little meeker
With the brother that is weaker;
Let me think more of my neighbor
And a little less of me.

My Friend

He stood at the crossroads all alone,
With the sunrise in his face;
He had no fear for the path unknown;
He was set for a manly race.
But the road stretched east, and the road stretched west;
There was no one to tell which way was best;
So my friend turned wrong and went down, down, down,
'Til he lost the race and the victor's crown
And fell at last in an ugly snare,
Because no one stood at the crossroads there.
Another friend on another day
At the selfsame crossroads stood;
He paused a moment to choose the way
That would stretch to a greater good.
And the road stretched east and the road stretched west;
Bu I was there to show him the best;
So my friend turned right and went on and on,
'Til he won the race and the victor's crown;
He came at last to the mansions fair,
Because I stood at the crossroads there.
Since then I have raised a daily prayer
That I be kept faithful standing there.
To warn the runners as they come,
And save my own or anther's chum.

My Friend

We have come such a long way in the time that

We've known each other.

We've given each other encouragement and have
accomplished things that we never thought we
could do.

I have become a better person since knowing you.

You have given me many things which I will
treasure for a lifetime....

and most important thing of all...
...is the gift of our friendship.

My Grandson

My grandson is like a special book
For a person of some age
Like reading a beautiful story
Each time we turn the page

There's a mystery and excitement
As the story begins to unfold
Sometimes laughter, sometimes tears
Then joy as the story is told

You bring back special memories...
Times I lovingly recall
All the happy times we had
When your mother was very small

But above all this, there is peace
And a deep commitment within
Knowing that a part of me
will go on without an end

I just want to let you know
How much you mean to me
I know that I am truly blessed
With a very special family

For My Favorite Aunt
(Aunt's Name if desired)

Only an Aunt
can give hugs
like a mother,
can keep secrets
like a sister,
and share love
like a friend.
You are truly treasured!

Merry Christmas From Heaven
(Can Be Personalized, if desired)

"I still hear the songs, I still see the lights, I still feel
your love, On cold wintry nights.
To my family and friends, Please be thankful today,
I'm still close beside you, In a new special way.
I love you all dearly, Now don't shed a tear,
Cause I'm spending my, Christmas with Jesus this year

Let Me Not Shut Myself Within Myself

Let me not shut myself within myself
nor dedicate myself to petty things,
Let there be many windows in my life,
The entrance to my heart a door that swings.
Save me from self-preferment that would gain
It's cloistered place, safe sheltered from the strife.
But purposeful and calm and sweet and sane,
Lord, keep me in the living room of life.

May God Bless You

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, superficial relationships, so that you will live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people so that you will work for justice, equality and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation and war, so that you will reach out your hand to comfort them and change their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done.

Letting Go

To let go doesn't mean to stop caring;
It means I can't do it for someone else.
To let go is not to cut myself off...
It's the realization that I can't control another...
To let go is not to enable,
but to allow learning from natural consequences.
To let go is to admit powerlessness,
which means the outcome is not in my hands.
To let go is not to try and change or blame another,
I can only change myself.
To let go is not to care for, but to care about.
To let go is not to fix, but to be supportive.
To let go is not to judge,
but to allow another to be a human being.
To let go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes,
but to allow others to affect their own outcomes.
To let go is not to be protective,
It is to permit another to face reality.
To let go is not to deny, but to accept.
To let go is not to nag, scold, or argue,
but to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
To let go is not to adjust everything to my desires,
but to take each day as it comes and cherish the moment.
To let go is not to criticize and regulate anyone,
but to try to become what I dream I can be.
To let go is not to regret the past,
but to grow and live for the future.
To let go is to fear less and love more.

Life On The Line

Now, I am told I was bred for "show"
Do I deserve to be dropped this low?
In the canine world I am the King,
I do not care for the dog show ring.
It bores me til the day I die
Why can I no longer do my part
And serve mankind with all my heart?
My heritage demands of me
to be what I was born to be,
Return my birth right that once was mine
A Chance To Lay My
Life On The Line!

My Family

My Family is like a book.
The children are the pages
The parents are the cover
That protecting beauty gives.

At first the pages of the book
Are blank and purely fair,
But time soon writeth memories
And painteth pictures there.

Love is the little golden clasp
That bindeth up the trust;
Oh, break it not, lest all the pages
Should shatter and be lost!

Little Eyes Upon You

There are little eyes upon you
and they're watching night and day.
There are little ears that quickly
take in every word you say.

There are little hands all eager
to do anything you do;
And a little boy who's dreaming
of the day he'll be like you.

You're the little fellow's idol,
you're the wisest of the wise.
In his little mind about you
no suspicions ever rise.

He believes in you devoutly,
holds all that you say and do;
He will say and do, in your way,
when he's grown up like you.

My Granddaughter

My granddaughter is like a special book
For a person of some age
Like reading a beautiful story
Each time we turn the page

There's a mystery and excitement
As the story begins to unfold
Sometimes laughter, sometimes tears
Then joy as the story is told

You bring back special memories...
Times I lovingly recall
All the happy times we had
When your father was very small

But above all this, there is peace
And a deep commitment within
Knowing that a part of me
will go on without an end

I just want to let you know
How much you mean to me
I know that I am truly blessed
With a very special family

Life's Storms

When the heart is troubled and the
 day seems long,
And the mighty tempests roll,
The clouds are thick and foreboding,
There is sadness in your soul.
When things go wrong and you're weary,
And your heart cries out in pain,
What should I do? Which way do I go?
Crying out again and again.
Suddenly a soft voice whispers,
"Take time my child to pray,
While the storms of life are raging,
I will wipe your fears away.

 Life #2

I've been through the valley of the shadow of death.
I've felt death's icy stare.
I've known torment that tortures the soul..
But the Savior met me there.
To comfort and sooth with His still voice.
The tempest I couldn't bear.
In His own good time He brought me through.
For His love was always there.
We struggle and strive and toss and groan.
The time seems endless and vain.
When we stood the test and weathered the storm.
He takes away the pain.
For He never leaves us completely alone.
His eyes NEVER leave His own.

Love

There are little traits that keep me bound...
I think of nothing else save the bright face of my lady-

Ah me! Her swan-white throat, her strong chin,
Her fresh laughing mouth which daily seems to say,
"Come kiss me, love, kiss me once again!

Her regal nose, her smiling grey eyes-
(That thieve to steal a lovers heart)-
And her brown tresses that wildly fly.
Each have wounded me as with a dart

So amorous are these that I deem they will slay me.
Ah God, ah God! Alas, who will save me?

Loving

We may give without loving,
but we cannot love without giving....

Life Of A Police Dog

We're both partners and buddies in blue.
We did school demos and never did wrong,
Over the years, my love did grow strong.
How I loved to work, stand up and bark,
In the back of our car, from light until dark.
We went call to call, having fun all the way,
Until the call came on that one fateful day.
A man with a gun, the dispatcher did say,
I jumped from my car when it pointed your way.
Before leaving home, I was told by your wife,
I knew at that moment, I'd give you my life.
The bullet struck hard, steady and true,
The bullet struck me, it did not strike you.
When you go home, tell your wife I did good,
Strong, tall and proud on the ground that I stood.
I'm dead and gone now, this much is so true,
But I've done my job well in protecting you.

My Favorites

My favorite light  is the sun,
My shade is yonder tree.
My favorite highway is the path
That's tried by you and me.

My favorite song is feathered friend,
Chirp--chipping in the dell.
The wind is music to my ears
The rose, my favorite smell.

I'll waken to the old cock's crow.
My lullaby, the locust.
How sweet the sound when raindrops fall--
A rainbow then to focus.

My favorite day is now--today,
Which I can give to God.
Who made the earth and all therein,
For my approving nod.

At least, I like to think He loves me so.
Of course, I know it was for all.
We look, and God we know.
