Poems, Verses And Prayers Page 2

Angel Light

Although you may not see them,
you are always in their sight.

They bring the gift of love and guidance,
It is called the "Angel Light."
You know they always hear you,
to them your voice is dear.

With the comfort that they bring to you,
You need not ever fear.
So here's a place for [NAME] to come,
To do with angels what must be done.

To make our world whole and bright
and share with all, the "Angel Light."

A Sister Just Like You

I just want to let you know.
You mean the world to me
Only a heart as dear as yours
Would give so unselfishly

The many things you've done
All the times that you were there
Help me know deep down inside
How much you really care

Even though I might not say
I appreciate all you do
Richly blessed is how I feel
Having a Sister just like you

A Second Mom

Even though you're not my dad
I know that you'll be there to help
With the little things you do
You let me know you care.

You're always there to help,
whatever the need may be
You've given of yourself...
and so unselfishly

Now you're becoming the dad
that I have never known
I'm drawn to you more every day
for the kindness you have shown

I just want to thank you
and let you know I care
A second mom as great as you
is something very rare.

A Peacekeepers Fate

Too many feelings Too many words!
Too many memories That all go unheard!
Your blood starts to boil Your head starts to ache!
The pressure inside you Wants you to break!
To feel and to see It alters your mood!
It's hard to explain A child with no food!
The bodies, the pain The incredible hate!
Being thrown in the middle Is the Peacekeepers fate!
The goals are holistic So grandeur and plain.
To make people love But it drives them insane!
The beginning is easy We listen and learn.
Understanding is hard As the children are spurned!
The harder we try To make ourselves heard!
The more things become Obtrusively absurd!
So we change our direction To a mediators role.
Preventing the bloodshed From taking it's toll!
Our candles are burning At both ends and it seems.
To create an environment Of progress and dreams!
The feelings of pride For all those who dared!
Cannot be explained When a death has been spared!
Our jobs are not easy No credit, No fame!
Just feeling self worth For all those who came!
Our roles are intrinsic To the people we see.
Our lives have been altered To reflect you and me.
Would I do it again If the need did arise?
I'm a Peacekeeper now It comes from inside!

A Soldier's Son

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray dear Lord, my soul to keep.
My mommy says I need to pray,
For many others on this day.

But my daddy-he's a soldier,
Of this I'm sure you know.
He helps protect our freedom,
I was sad to see him go.

Although I know he's safe with you,
I'd rather have him here,
'Cause he's the one who always said
With prayer, there's no fear.

Dear Lord, I know you hear me,
Way up in the sky,
Please protect my daddy,
I wish he was here tonight.

I love you daddy !

A Firefighter's Poem

"Hey mom!" He yelled from the attic door,
"What's these old heavy boots and hard hat for?"
With a lump in her throat and a tear stained cheek
His mother swallowed and started to speak.
"Come here my son," his mother said,
"There's things to tell when I clear my head."
The past races madly through her mind.
She searched her heart for the words to find.
At last she sighed and rubbed his hair
And the words that followed I'd like to share.
"Those boots & hat," She said with pride,
"Were worn by a man with grit inside.
He wore them to help people in need.
Though facing danger would never concede.
Many a time in the dead of night
He jumped in those boots and flashed out of sight
To answer a call, not knowing for sure
What danger or heartache he may have to endure.
Your father, my son, was not like most dads,
It was mainly because of the job he had.
His life was devoted to all of mankind,
Just why he chose it's not clear in my mind.
I've often regretted the life that we led,
When every third night I was alone in our bed.
But your mother is proud to say she was part
Of a man who possessed such a courageous heart.
So the memories I've kept & the love I will save
Are small consolations for the life that he gave.
Yet, for all his discomfort & all of his pain
The time that he spent here was never in vain."
I know full well these words to be true,
And not one word did she misconstrue.
But from all my mother shared that day
It's these last few words I'd like to convey.
My mother, with tears, save a long loving sigh,
And I knew what would follow was not meant to die.
With a smile so warm & a voice very weak,
She kissed my young brow & started to speak.
"Your father's days here made others seem brighter.
For your father, my son, was a firefighter."

A Smile

Let others cheer the winning man,
There's one I hold worth while;
'Tis he who does the best he can,
Beaten he is, but not to stay
Down with the rank and file;
That man will win some other day.
Who loses with a smile.

A Tribute To Fathers

A father is a thing that is forced to endure childbirth, without an
anesthetic.
A father is a thing that growls when it feels good--and laughs
when it's half  scared to death.
A father never feels entirely worthy of worship in his child's eyes.
He never is quite the hero his daughter thinks, never quite the man his
son believes him to be, and this worries him, sometimes. So he works too
hard to try and smooth the rough places in the road for those of his own
who will follow him.
Fathers grow old faster than other people. They have to stand at
the train station (or airport) and wave good-by to the uniform that climbs aboard.
And while mothers can cry where it shows,  fathers stand there and beam
outside--and die inside. Fathers have very stout hearts, so they have to
be broken sometimes or no one would know what's inside of them.
Fathers are what give daughters away to other men who aren't
nearly as good enough so they can have grandchildren who are
smarter than anybody's.
They hurry away from the breakfast table, off to the arena which is
sometimes called an office, a workshop, or a farm. There with callused,
practiced hands, they tackle the dragon with three heads: Weariness,
Work and Monotony. And they never quite win the fight, but they
never give up.
Knights in shining armor--fathers in shiny work clothes--there's little
difference, as they march away to work each day.

A Shared Tear

As the sun goes down, we realize
that another day is coming to an end.
We feel for your family and close friends
at the loss of your loved one.

We wish you the peace and assurance
that the reasons are there.
They may be beyond our understanding
at this time, but they do exist.

We pray you are comforted during this
time of grief, through your friends an family.

We just want you to know, [NAME], that
our thoughts and prayers are with you

A Soldier Reports To God

A Soldier stood and faced his God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?

The soldier squared his shoulders,
and said "No Lord, I guess I ain't'"
because those of us  who carry guns
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But I've never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep..
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got too steep,

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.

If  you've a place for me here,  Lord
It needn't be so grand.
I've never had that much in life,
So if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of God.

Step forward now you soldier
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets
You've done your time on Hell.

To All That Serve...

A Special Wish

God has truly blessed you with unique talents and abilities
And you have used his gifts extremely well.

Your positive attitude, your willingness to try new things,
Your dedication, and your caring ways-

All this shows just how much you've done
With his gifts..

Today as you celebrate your accomplishments,
Remember that you are an important part of God's wonderful plan.

Doubt And Faith

    Doubt  see the obstacles--
Faith sees the way!
Doubt sees the darkest night--
Faith sees the day!
Doubt dreads to take a step--
Faith soars high!
Doubt questions who believes--
Faith answers, "I"

A Wonderful Husband

Honey, do you realize how much you mean to me?
You give of yourself so much and so unselfishly.

You care and share and are always there
Whenever I am in need.
I just want you to remember
What a wonderful husband you are to me

I am very thankful for the way you are.
As I realize it is the only way you could be.

I just want you to remember
I respect you so greatly
And I thank you
For being the greatest man in the world in every way.

I will always love you!

Future

The future is like a great land...
It is wider than the vision,
And has no end...

A Special Person

Beautiful eyes, a tender heart
And a smile that's very sweet
before you came into my life
It was so incomplete

You always make me happy
You make my world go 'round
In anything we do together
Joy is sure to be found

I just want you to know
And hope that you can see
You're a very precious person
That God has shared with me

A Son

A son is a wonderful blessing,
       A treasure from above.
He's laughter, warmth and special charm,
    He's thoughtfulness and love.

A son brings a special joy,
That comes from deep inside.
And as he grows to manhood,
He fills your heart with pride.

    With every year that passes,
    He's more special that before.
Through every stage, through every age,
    You love him even more.

No words can describe the warm memories,
    The pride and gratitude, too.
That comes from having a son,
To love and to cherish...just like you, { Name} !

As You Graduate

The highest goal has not yet been achieved,
The greatest idea has not been conceived.

The loftiest honor has not been received,
The laurels are yours for the winning!

The sweetest melody hasn't been sung,
The swiftest race has yet to be run.

The noblest victory hasn't been won,
Make this your bright beginning.

Changed Life

Some people come into our lives
And quickly go...

Some stay for awhile
And fill a special place
In our heart

And we are never the same again.

That's You.

God And The Soldier

God and the soldier
All men adore
In time of trouble,
and no more;
For when war is over
And all things righted,
God is neglected--
The old soldier slighted.

Birthday's Are Special

Birthdays should be a special time,
As everyone should know.
It means living another year of living
Another year to grow.

Birthdays should be a special time
For each to then reflect.
On the past and on the present
And what the future might expect.

Birthdays should be a special time
for to start anew,
Setting goals and working to make
each and every dream come true.

Choose Carefully

A careless word may kindle strife;
A cruel word may wreck a life.
A bitter word may smite and kill.

A gracious word may smooth the way;
A joyous word may light the day.
A timely word may lessen stress,
A loving word may heal and bless.

Autumn Rain

" Do not stand at my grave and weep:
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond's gilt on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circle flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry:
I am not there. I did not die."

Broken Dreams

As children bring their broken toys,
With tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God,
Because he was my friend.

But then instead of leaving him,
In peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help,
With ways that were my own.

At last I snatched them back and cried,
'How could you be so slow?'
' My child,' he said,
'What could I do? You never did let go.'

Companionship

It isn't that we talk so much.
Sometimes the evening through,
You do not say a word to me;
I do not talk to you.
I sit beside the reading lamp,
You like your easy chair,
And it is joy enough for me,
To know that you are there.

God's Mosaic

An artist can take a few bits of colored glass
And fit them together with infinite pains
Into a design of symmetry.
When he is finished, his colors so blend
together:
That he has created a picture in glass.
It is a mosaic.
You are God's mosaic,
A distinctive, original design.
The way you fit each "piece" of you together,
Your dreams, your education, your lifework,
and your total personality,
Will determine whether the
"Design For Your Tomorrow"
Will be the masterpiece God has in mind.

Don't Grieve For Me

Don’t grieve for me I served you well.
I loved you more than you could ever tell.
I am now an angel in blue.
I laid my life on the line for you.
I wore my badge with honor every day,
to keep citizens safe and out of harms way.
so when you see a badge worn with pride,
remember their comrades and friends that have died.

Companionship

It isn't that we talk so much.
Sometimes the evening through,
You do not say a word to me;
I do not talk to you.
I sit beside the reading lamp,
You like your easy chair,
And it is joy enough for me,
To know that you are there.

Friends

Friends will always see you through..
believe in the things you want to do..
feel happy when your dreams come true..
That's just the way friends are.

Friends will always be right there...
with wisdom, faith and strength to share...
With love that shows how much they care..
That's just the way friends are.

Chosen One

Chosen One, Welcome Home

Tonight as you lie sleeping for the first time in your bed,
There must be something lasting and profound that should be said!

But as your face is gazed upon, framed by soft, angelic hair,
No words can tell or quite express the feelings that we share.

The wait is finally over; you're home at last to stay,
And there will always be the memories of the joy that's filled this day!

With love that's brimming over by the sight of you alone,
Welcome home, dear cherished one, at long last…Welcome Home!

Congratulations!

On this special day,
I would like to congratulate
you for a job well done.

I want to take a chance
to encourage you in whatever
you choose to do in the future.

On this graduation day,
you must look ahead and dream
of all the bright possibilities
that your future holds for you.

Today and for the rest of your life..
May all Your dreams come true.

Changes

This is a big change
in your life I see
But I'm willing to give
All the love within me

I'm not your real mother,
I'll grant you that thought
But I will still teach you
What Your real mother taught

We can do all things
that you used to do
It may feel a little strange,
but we'll get through that, too

I'll stand by your side
through thick and through thin
but please never forget...
I'm here as a friend.

God Grant That I May Live To Fish

God grant that I may live to fish
until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast
I then most humbly pray
When in the Lord's safe landing net
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged
good enough to keep.

Babies Don't Keep

Cleaning and scrubbing
Can wait till tomorrow,

    For babies grow up
We've learned to our sorrow.

So quiet down cobwebs,
    Dust go to sleep,

I'm rocking my baby
And babies don't keep.

Faith
(#2)

In the bitter waves of woe,
Beaten and tossed about
By the sullen winds that blow
From the desolate shores of
doubt,
Where the anchors that faith has
cast
Are dragging in the gale,
I am quietly holding fast
To the things that cannot fail...

Courage

Courage isn't a brilliant dash,
A daring deed in a moments flash;
It isn't an instantaneous thing,
Born of despair with a sudden spring,
It isn't a creature of flickered hope,
Or the final tug at a slipping rope;
But it's something deep in the soul of man,
That is working always to serve some plan.
Courage isn't the last resort,
In the work of life or the game of sport;
It isn't a thing that a man can call,
At some future time when he's apt to fall;
If he hasn't it now, he will have it not,
When the strain is great and the pace is hot.
For who would strive for a distant goal,
Must always have courage within his soul.
Courage isn't a dazzling light,
That flashes and passes away from sight;
It's a slow, unwavering, ingrained trait,
With the patience to work and the strength to wait.

Grandma's Hugs Are Made Of Love!

Everything my grandma does
is something special made with love.
She takes time to add the extra touch
that says, "I love you very much."

She fixes hurts with a kiss and smile
and tells good stories grandma-style.
It's warm and cozy on her lap
for secret telling or a nap.

And when I say my prayers at night
I ask God to bless and hold her tight.
Cause when it comes to giving hugs
my grandma's arms are filled with love!

Conscience

I sat alone with my conscience, in a place where time had ceased,
And we talked of my former living,  in the land where years increased;
And I felt I should have an answer, and questions through all eternity.
The ghosts of forgotten actions came floating before my sight,
And the things that I thought were dead things were alive with terrible might.
And the vision of all my past life was an awful thing to face,
Alone with my conscience sitting in that solemnly silent place,
And I thought of a faraway warning, and of sorrow that was to be mine,
In a land that was then the future, but is now the present time.
And I thought of my former thinking of the judgment day to be;
But sitting alone with my conscience seemed judgment enough for me.
And I wandered if there was a future to this land beyond the grave;
But no one gave me an answer, and no one came to save.
Then I felt the future was present, and the present would never go by,
For it was but the thought of my past life growing into eternity.
Then I awoke from my timely dreaming and the vision passed away,
And I knew that far-off seeming was a warning of yesterday;
And I pray that I may not ever forget it, in the land before the grave,
That I may not cry in the future, and no one came to save.
So, I sit alone with my conscience in a place where the years increase.
And I try to remember the future, in the land where time will cease.

Friends

What is a friend
Your mind thinks?

What are they for
To love or to hate?

Its all the same
For life is a game.

A friend is to help
or so you would think.

But take my advice
Don't think that your friend...
Is always nice.

Eternal Investment

If you write upon paper, a careless hand may
destroy it:
If you write upon parchment, the dust of the
centuries may gather over it:
If you write upon marble, the moss may cover it
and the elements may erase it:

If you grave your thoughts with a pen of iron
upon the granite cliff,
In the slow revolving years it shall wear away and
When the earth melts your writing will perish.
Write, then upon the heart of a youth.
There engrave your thoughts and they shall
endure when the world shall pass away and the
stars shall fall, and time shall be no more.
For the heart is immortal and your words written
There shall live through  eternity.

God Are You Really Real?

The child whispered, "God, speak to me."
And the meadowlark sang.
The child did not hear.
So the child yelled, "God, speak to me?"
And the thunder rolled across the sky,
But the child did not listen.
The child looked around and said,
"God let me see you." and a star shone brightly,
But the child did not notice,
And the child shouted,
"God, show me a miracle?"
And a life was born, but the child did not know.
So the child cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here?"
Whereupon God reached down
And touched the child.
But the child brushed the butterfly away,
And walked away unknowingly..

Daddy

Even though I'm little
and can't express myself in words...

Even though my thoughts
for now remain unspoken...
I really want you to know
that I love the way you look at me..
...smile at me and talk to me

You always know how to make me happy
by doing little things for me

Being your child is fun
and you are the best Daddy
in the whole wide world

I love you, Daddy.

Dear Mom and Dad

We want to thank you for always being near us
And for all the unconditional love you have given us.

You have been the best parents we could ever want.

You were with us when we laughed,
When we cried.

When we succeeded,
And when we failed.

You were always there giving us a helping hand.

We thank you for being such great parents
And we want you to know
that we love you very much.

Friends

Friends will always see you through...
believe in the things you want to do...
feel happy when your dreams come true...
That's just the way friends are.

Friends will always be right there...
with wisdom, faith and strength to share...
with love that shows how much they care...
That's just the way friends are

A Friend Like You

There's lots of things
With which I'm blessed,
My problems have been few,
But of all, this one's the best:
To have a friend like you.
In times of trouble
Friends will say,
"Just ask, I'll help you through it."
But you don't wait for me to ask,
You just get up and do it!
And I can think
of nothing more
That I could wisely do,
Than know a friend,
And be a friend,
And have a friend like you.

Every Morning

Every morning lean thine arms awhile
Upon the window-sill of heaven
And gaze upon thy Lord.
Then, with the vision in thy heart,
Turn strong the meet the day.

Dad's Place

There's a special kind of feeling
When I think about you, Dad

It's a pleasure to remember
All the happy times we've had

There's a special kind of caring
That is meant for you alone
There's a place somewhere
Within my heart
That only you can own.

God In Every Tomorrow

God in every tomorrow,
Therefore I live for today,
Certain of finding at sunrise,
Guidance and strength for the way;
Power for each moment of weakness,
Hope for each moment of pain,
Comfort for every sorrow,
Sunshine and joy after rain.

Especially For You

Carolers are singing and joy is in the air...
Jingle bells are ringing....
It's Christmas everywhere!

May Christmas this year
Be your happiest yet,
May it bring you warm memories
You'll never forget.

May your favorite traditions
Bring pleasure to you,
May your loved ones and friends
Share your happiness too!

God Added A Daughter...

God Added A Touch of mystery,
of mischief, and magic.
He saw a place for adventure,
and courage;
For daring dreams and crazy schemes;
He knew our lives needed spice,
and a tough tender love...
So God gave us you
our beloved daughter...

Friendly Obstacles

For every hill I've had to climb,
For every stone that bruised my feet,
For all the blood and sweat and grime,
For blinding storms and burning heat,
My heart sings but a grateful song---
These were the things that made me strong!
For all the heartaches and the tears,
For all the anguish and the pain,
For gloomy days and fruitless years,
And for the hopes that lived in vain,
I do give thanks, for now I know
These were the things that made me grow!
"Tis not the softer things of life
Which stimulate man's will to strive;
But bleak adversity and strife
Do most to keep man's will alive.
O'er rose-strewn paths the weakly creep,
But brave hearts dare to climb the steep.

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must--but don't quit.

Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems is slow--
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt--
And you can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Giving

God gives us joy that we may give;
He gives us joy that we may share;
Sometimes He gives us loads to lift,
That we may learn to bear.
For life is gladder when we give,
And love is sweeter when we share,
And heavy loads rest lightly too
When we have learned to bear.

Bethlehem of Judea

A little child,
A shining star,
A stable rude,
The door ajar,

Yet in this place,
So crude, forlorn,
The hope of all
The world was born.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself  with others, you may become vain or bitter, for
always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career,
however humble, it's real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons
strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

    Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is a perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of
the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to    be. And whatever
your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Faith
(#1)

Often your tasks will be
more than you think you can do.
Often the road will be rugged,
and the hills insurmountable too.

Always remember the hills ahead
are never as steep as they seem
And with faith in your heart, start upward
and climb 'til  you reach your dreams.

For nothing in life that  is worthy,
is ever too hard to achieve
If you have the courage to try
and you have the faith to believe.

Faith is a force that is greater

So start out today with faith in your heart
and climb until your dreams come true.

Footprints In The Sand
(Must Specify Gender Of Person)

One night a woman (Or man) had a dream that she (or he) was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from her (or his) life. For each scene, she noticed two sets of footprints in the sand'
one belonging to her, the other belonging to the Lord.

When the last scene of her life flashed before her, she looked back at the footprints in the sand.
She noticed that many times along the path of her life
there was only one set of footprints, and that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in her life...

This really bothered her and she questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most, you would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, [NAME], and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

God Is Our Friend

In this vast universe,
There is but one supreme truth--
That God is our friend!
By that truth meaning is given
To the remote stars, the numberless centuries,
The long and heroic struggle of mankind...
Oh my soul, dare to trust the truth!
Dare to trust in God's kindly arms,
Dare to look confidently into His face,
Then launch thyself into life unafraid!
Knowing that thou art within thy
Father's house,
That thou art surrounded by His love,
Thou wilt become master of fear,
Lord of life, conqueror even of death!

Faith Is....

Faith Is.....
Remembering I am
God's priceless treasure;
when I fell utterly useless.....
Faith Is.....
Remembering I am
indispensable to God
when I feel I am only cluttering
cluttering up the landscape....
Faith Is....
Reliance on the certainty
that God has a pattern for my life;
when everything else seems meaningless....
Faith Is...
Ceasing to worry,
leaving the future to God
who controls the future....
Faith Is....
Confidence in God
when money is running out:
not rolling in....
Faith Is...
The radar that sees through
the fog of doubt....
Faith Is....
Expecting a sea of golden grain
from the bleak, barren, endless fields---
watered only by my tears---
where I walk alone......

For You, Son with Love

Some things will always be in style
Good solid things like honesty,
and trust and caring about people.

It's qualities like these that
keep us aware of who we are
And what we can give to life.

It's qualities like these, Son,
that you've taught me to value,
Through your influence,
your example, and your love.

It has made me
love you very much,
And has made me very proud
to have you for my son.

God's Mosaic

An artist can take a few bits of colored glass
And fit them together with infinite pains
Into a design of symmetry.
When he is finished, his colors so blend
together:
That he has created a picture in glass.
It is a mosaic.
You are God's mosaic,
A distinctive, original design.
The way you fit each "piece" of you together,
Your dreams, your education, your lifework,
and your total personality,
Will determine whether the
"Design For Your Tomorrow"
Will be the masterpiece God has in mind.

Fly and Grow

I'm so happy you are chasing your dreams...
achieving your goals, and becoming what
you want to be.

I am only sad that these dreams are taking you so far away
so far away.

I will miss being able to call you just to talk..
or when I'm in need of some quick advice.
You are so special and unique-with your own goals,
plans and aspirations.

These goals, and your efforts to reach them, are steps
to be cherished forever.

So, today I want to encourage you to fly and grow.

I'm so proud of you, and will miss you very much.

A Wonderful Mother

God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old.
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He molded her heart of pure gold.
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks, fair roses you see.
God made that wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

Grandma's Hugs Are Made Of Love!

Everything my Grandma does
is something special made of love.

She fixes hurts with a kiss and smile
and tells good stories Grandma-style.
It's warm and cozy on her lap
for secret telling or a nap.

And when I say my  prayers at night
I ask God to bless and hold her tight,
Cause when it comes to giving hugs
my Grandma's arms are filled with love!

Because We Do Not See

The weary one had rest, the sad had joy that day,
And wondered how?
A ploughman singing at his work had prayed,
" Lord, help them now."
Away in foreign lands they wondered how
There feebled words had power?
At home the Christians two or three had met
To pray an hour.
Yes, we are always wondering, wondering how,
Because we do not see
Someone unknown perhaps,  far away,
On bended knee.

Giving From the Heart

A mother seems to specialize in doing thoughtful deeds,
Before you ask she understands your problems and your needs.

Quietly she does her best to help, inspire and cheer,
And everything looks brighter right away because she's near.

She always has a lot to do but still finds time to spare,
To listen and to give advice because she really cares.

She helps because she wants to, she finds joy in being kind,
And making others happy is the first thing on her mind.

She makes this world a better place by practicing the art,
Of reaching out to others and by giving from the heart.

God Answers

He prayed for strength that he might achieve;
He was made weak that he might obey.
He prayed for wealth that he might do greater things;
He was given infirmity that he might do better things.
He prayed for riches that he might be happy;
He was given poverty that he might be wise.
He prayed for power that he might have the
praise of men;
He was given infirmity that he might feel the
need of God.
He prayed for all things that he might enjoy life;
He was given life that he might enjoy all things.
He had received nothing that he asked for--
all that he hoped for;
His prayer was answered--
He was most blessed.

Go Bury Thy Sorrow

Go bury thy sorrow,
The world hath it's share;
Go, bury it deeply,
Go hide it with care.
Go, bury thy sorrow,
Let others be blest;
Go, give them the sunshine,
And tell God the rest.

Forget-Me-Not

Our problems are many and varied.
Our struggles are always uphill.
I'm speaking for hundreds of children.
So listen a while if you will.
I want understanding - not pity.
I wish you could treat me the same.
You wouldn't ignore other children.
At least you would ask them their name.
I know I can't answer to tell you.
My face may seem empty and dead.
My body is twisted - but I am alive.
And there are thoughts in my head.
I will not be shut out from the world.
I'm a child and it is my right
I am not an object of pity - to be hidden away from sight.
My parents see me through eyes of love.
And not as others do.
They see the things I can achieve.
And I wish that you would too.
As I ask you to forget - me - not,
I beg you to hear my plea.
If I could speak - I would ask you
To please look closer - and see me ...

If You Really Care

Around the corner I have a friend
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone
And I never see my old friend’s face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine...
If, we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men…
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name..
Tomorrow I say I will call on Jim
Just to show that I’m thinking of him.
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
and a distance between us and grows...
Around the corner! Yet miles away,
Here’s a telegram sir-Jim died today.
And that's what we get and deserve in the end...
Around the corner, a vanished friend…
If you love someone, tell them…
Remember always to say what you mean…
Never be afraid to express yourself...
Take this opportunity to tell someone
what they mean to you…
Seize the day and have no regrets…
Most importantly, stay close to your
friends and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today
and are what it's all about anyway...

God Is Here

Enter this door
As if the floor
Within were gold,
And every wall
Of jewels all
Of wealth untold;
As if a choir
In robes of fire
Were singing here.
Nor shout, nor rush,
But hush....
For God Is Here.

Grandma

"Hidden within your name is a special story"

G is for gracious, it shows everyday.
R is for radiant, it's your personality!
A is for accord, the harmony you spread.
N is for nurture, your soul's instinct
D is for dazzle, the sparkle of you!
M is for mild, your mild and gentle way.
A is for always, your consistent support.

Grandma is much more than a name...

God Hath Not Promised

God hath not promised
Skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways
All our lives through;
God hath not promised
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow
Peace without pain.

But God hath promised
Strength for the day,
Rest for the labor,
Light for the way,
Grace for the trials,
Help from above,
Unfailing sympathy
Undying love.....

Glad You're My Brother

I just want you to know how happy I am
to have you for my brother.
There are times...like right now..
when I want to let you know exactly how I feel,

To put it simply, I don't just love you...I really like you!
Even if you weren't my brother, I'd still enjoy being with you.

It's true that we've had occasional disagreements over the years,
but that's how we got to know each other better...
to respect one another's self-worth
and value each other's uniqueness.

I appreciate the many ways you've helped me.
You have a real talent for knowing just when I need you the most.
I know I can count on you for support and encouragement.
and you've always been able to make me feel good about myself.. and life.

You brought something special to our family.. too.
Life just wouldn't be the same without you...
and all the wonderful memories you've given me.
I'm so happy to have you as my brother!

I seek in prayerful words. dear friend,
My heart's true wish to send to you,
That you may know that, far or near,
My loving thoughts attend to you.
I cannot find a truer word,

Nor song, nor poem, have I hear
